Meet Jacqui: My Journey to Empowering Mums through Fitness

Hi, I’m Jacqui — a mum of two, a Pre & Postnatal fitness coach, and the heart behind Mum & Mini Fitness.

When I look back on my journey, I can hardly believe how far this path has taken me. Fitness has been a part of my life since my high school years; however, it hasn’t always been a positive relationship. (More on that in a moment.)

More recently, becoming a mum completely changed my perspective. It made me appreciate just how vital it is to feel strong and energised — and how crucial it is that we receive the support we need to do that.

How It All Began

I started my fitness career more than 15 years ago. Back then, my passion was driven by an unhealthy desire to be thinner, fitter, and “hotter.” I struggled with an eating disorder at just 17, and with the support and guidance of a psychologist, dietitian, and personal trainer, I took great strides toward learning to love, nourish, and care for my body rather than criticise it.

I remember the day my personal trainer gently shifted the conversation toward how incredible our bodies are for their ability. Our focus was no longer on aesthetics, but on gratitude for all the things we often overlook — like the fact that we have two legs that move freely and function fully. I mean; let that sink in.

Seriously, take 15 seconds and consider all the things your body does. Are you working to improve it from a place of love, drive, and self-improvement? If this isn't where you're at right now, don't dismay— that was me, too, for many years to come.

Later that same year, I qualified as a Personal Trainer and began teaching group fitness classes. I ran various Les Mills programs and, at one point, was up at 5 am every day of the week to teach, then back in the gym some evenings too. That was also unhealthy in its own way, but I loved it. It ignited a fire in me and showed me just how much of an impact fitness can have on people’s lives. To this day, I’m still in touch with many of my participants from those early days.

Over time, I continued to work on my relationship with my body, exercise, and food. It’s been a long process, but it’s one of the achievements I’m most proud of. Fast forward to becoming a mother — which truly cemented my sense of self-worth and gave me a deeper awareness of our real value on this planet — and I knew I wanted to create a space where mums felt seen, encouraged, and cared for.

That desire to help people led me to become a Certified Pre & Postnatal Coach and when my youngest was just shy of one year old, we held our very first Mums & Bubs class. Throughout my pregnancies, I experienced first-hand the changes, challenges, and joys that come with growing a little human. Even more, I experienced how little tailored support was available for mums like me.

Why I Specialised in Supporting Mums

As a new mum, I felt the emotional and physical shifts — and realised that most generic fitness advice just doesn’t fit this stage of life. Our bodies have been through so much, and our minds are juggling a million different things at once. We might know what we’re supposed to do, but piecing that into the puzzle that is life with a family is a whole other battle! That’s when my focus truly shifted.

My goal became clear: to help mums feel strong, capable, and proud of what their bodies can do — all while keeping it realistic and gentle. I know we’re often tired, pressed for time, and fighting to even have 5 minutes to ourselves...our goals need to fit into our reality.

That’s why my classes and online coaching embrace a compassionate, flexible and efficient approach. Whether you’re joining my face-to-face small group classes with your baby or you’re part of my online community, my coaching style is all about empowering you to take small, consistent steps toward your goals. Progress over perfection.

What’s Next — The Ultimate Mum Coaching Program

Right now, I’m working on something I’m so excited to share with you very soon — I'm building the ultimate mum coaching program! We've done online coaching before and the exciting part is that this program will combine the incredible feedback and results from pervious offerings, with my latest learnings and lessons!

This will be a fully supported, online program tailored to busy mums who want a practical plan, kind guidance, accountability, and a supportive community. Think short, manageable workouts, realistic advice on mindset and motivation, and regular check-ins that fit your schedule.

My vision is to help mums rebuild strength, feel energised, and reconnect with themselves — because you deserve to feel just as cared for as the people you care for.

Whether you’re a new mum adjusting to life with a newborn, a mum of toddlers who hardly ever sit still, or a seasoned mum who simply craves more balance and strength in your life, I’d love to help you on your journey.

Thanks for being here — I can’t wait to support you every step of the way!

Pssst. Let me leave you with an image of a class I still remember so well - Sunday morning BodyPump. The vibe in that room was HIGH with a record 63 participants! Group sessions, for me, are a beautiful blend of fitness, strength and comradery.
